A GP in training is a graduated physician, who is specializing in family medicine. Whereas medical school teaches physicians a broad range of medical knowledge, basic clinical skills, and limited experience practicing medicine, medical residency gives in-depth training within a specific branch of medicine. He/she is under supervision of a fully licensed physician. The GP in training has independent consultations and house call. He/she consults frequently with his/her supervisor. A GP in training will normally stay in our surgery for 1 or 2 years.
